We currently work with select general contractors on residential renovations, new builds, and light commercial projects across Calgary, Okotoks, and High River. We are proactive communicators, we flag issues early, and we keep our part of the schedule tight.

Our Story

Hi, we're the Whipps and first off, we love Jesus! We started Rangeview in early 2022 with a dream, a whole lot of prayer, and a heart to serve people well. What began as just Eric on the tools and Sarah behind the scenes has grown into a small, family-run business — built right alongside raising our three littles.

Eric holds his Journeyman Electrician certificate and is currently completing his Master Electrician certification — a milestone that reflects the standard of work we hold ourselves to on every job. Today, Rangeview isn't just the two of us anymore. We've been blessed with 3 incredible employees — each one sharing our values of excellence, integrity, and care for our clients.

We proudly serve Calgary and the surrounding communities including Okotoks, High River, and the acreages throughout Foothills and Rocky View County. Thank you for being here and supporting our family business — it means more than you know!

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! We provide free, detailed estimates for all projects. You can request yours through our Jobber portal and we'll get back to you within 1 business day with a transparent, no-surprise quote.
Absolutely. All of our electricians are fully licensed journeymen in the province of Alberta. We carry full liability insurance, WCB coverage, and we are bonded — and all work is performed to Alberta Electrical Code standards with permits pulled where required. Being bonded means we carry a surety bond that protects you as the client. If something were to go wrong on a job — such as incomplete work, property damage, or theft — the bond provides financial protection for you beyond what standard liability insurance covers.
We're based in Calgary and proudly serve Calgary, Okotoks, High River, and surrounding acreages in Foothills and Rocky View County. If you're on an acreage or rural property, we have experience with the unique electrical requirements that come with it. Not sure if we cover your area? Call Eric at (403) 978-3134 for technical questions, or Sarah at (403) 485-0204 for quotes and scheduling..
Yes — we love working with GCs! We're experienced at coordinating with other trades on residential and commercial job sites. We communicate proactively, show up on time, and keep your project moving.
Most residential panel upgrades are completed in a single day. We handle the permit application, coordinate the power shutoff with your utility provider, complete the installation, and arrange the inspection — so you don't have to worry about any of it.
Yes — this is one of our specialties! From LED strip lighting and backlit features to full smart home panel integration, we've done it all. Check out our gallery for examples. If you have a vision, we'd love to help bring it to life.
Yes! We install Level 2 EV chargers for both residential and commercial properties. We'll assess your panel capacity, recommend the right charger, pull the required permits, and have you charging at home overnight.
Many Calgary homes built between the 1960s and 1980s were wired with aluminum instead of copper. Over time, aluminum wiring can create fire hazards at connection points. Remediation involves installing approved connectors to make your home safe and up to current code — and can help with home insurance too.
A residential panel upgrade in Calgary typically ranges from $3,500 to $6,500 depending on the size of the new panel, whether the meter base needs replacing, permit fees, and the complexity of your existing wiring. We provide fully transparent, itemized quotes before any work begins so you know exactly what you are paying for and why. There are no surprise charges on our invoices.
Most residential Level 2 EV charger installations in Calgary range from $800 to $1,800. The main variables are the distance from your panel to the garage, whether your panel has capacity or needs an upgrade, and the charger model you choose. We handle the permit, installation, and inspection so it is done right and covered by your home insurance.
Electrical pricing reflects more than just the hour on your job site. A licensed journeyman electrician in Alberta earns a fair wage, and on top of that there are permit fees, materials, insurance, WCB coverage, vehicle costs, and the time spent estimating, coordinating inspections, and managing paperwork. When you hire a licensed contractor like Rangeview, you are also paying for the accountability that comes with it — if something is not right, we make it right. Unlicensed work is cheaper upfront but can cost far more in insurance claims, failed inspections, and safety issues down the road.
Yes — and we want to be fully transparent about it. Our call-out rate is $150, which includes the first hour of diagnosing the issue. If diagnosing the problem takes longer than an hour, the additional time is billed at $90 per hour. Before completing any repairs, our technician will go over what they found with you and discuss the best plan moving forward so you can decide how you'd like to proceed. If it ends up being a simple fix, we will only charge for the time spent and any materials required. No surprises — ever.
No — estimates are always free. We provide detailed, itemized quotes at no charge. For larger or more complex jobs like new construction or full renovations, we may do a site visit before quoting to make sure our number is accurate. We would rather take the time to quote it right than give you a number that changes halfway through the job.
Acreage work often costs more than comparable city work due to longer wire runs, more complex service requirements, travel time, and the unique demands of rural properties like shop wiring, well pumps, and outbuildings. That said, acreage clients typically get far more value per dollar because the scope of work is larger and the result — a properly wired property that will serve you for decades — is well worth the investment. We always provide transparent quotes for acreage work so you know exactly what you are getting.
